Ultimate Guide to a Saturday Morning in La Jolla

As another week begins, and our desire for Monday to become Friday as quickly as possible persists, we are left with an endless amount of choices on how to plan our weekend and maximize the well-deserved and anticipated time off. One of my favorite things to do on the weekend is to get out of downtown San Diego, plan lots of sports and activities, and have amazing food while catching up with friends. I am going to share with you one of my favorite ways to spend Saturday in San Diego.

I love to start my morning with coffee and a book. Recently, I don’t have time to read any books besides the CAIA study manual (a financial exam I am preparing for), so that takes up all my reading capacity in the morning when I have the most focus.
After that, I prepare celery juice, a must for every morning, and then head to La Jolla Trilogy Sanctuary – a yogi retreat place with many different classes and workshops, from typical Vinyasa classes to Kundalini and aerial yoga. They offer many different varieties to choose from, some of them combined with sound healing and various breathing techniques. I really like yin classes, and any class in the outdoor dome room when it’s not too hot outside.

After that, I like to grab a smoothie or quick drink at their rooftop restaurant, maybe even bring my laptop and get some emails or work done if there is anything pending. Their vegan café has so many options and great dishes to choose from, so if you prefer to stay here, I’m sure you would really enjoy anything you order.
After leaving Trilogy, I head to La Valencia, my favorite hotel in San Diego. This iconic pink landmark (that I like to call the Beverly Hills Hotel of La Jolla) is settled on La Jolla Blvd, with amazing views of the ocean and beautiful ambiance. The Mediterranean room, where I love to have brunch, is extremely busy on weekends, so reservations are recommended.
Outdoor seating is always preferable for the best experience. This is by far my favorite hotel and brunch restaurant for many reasons: the vibe, the people who are visiting/staying here, the views of the ocean, the boujee ambiance, and the quality of food and service.

Even though I have recently changed my diet to plant-based (90% of the time), I come to La Valencia about once a month to get my Lobster Benedict, which I am craving as I write this. Getting a portion of fruits first, with some freshly brewed coffee, while catching up with friends in this boujee ambiance, is a great way to start the weekend right.
After that, I go for a walk by the La Jolla Cove, the small trail that goes around the cliff, and enjoy some breathtaking views before finally deciding to leave La Jolla and go back home or start running my weekend errands.
I hope you enjoyed my mini weekend itinerary and let me know in the comments your favorite way to spend weekends!
